Indian Block Printing | October 16th 15.30-17.30

    Indian Block Printing

We will explore the beautiful tradition of Indian block printing using hand-carved wooden blocks and textile colour. Learn about the history of block printing, and discover how patterns are built, repeated, and combined. Let your creativity loose and experiment with colours, shapes and composition. We have more than 50 blocks to choose from.

As part of the workshop, you will create your unique pattern on either a tote bag, cushion cover, table mat or napkin.

Beginner-friendly - All you need is curiosity and a willingness to get paint on your fingertips.

    Workshop flow:

    - Introduction to Indian block printing.

    - Presentation of materials (wooden blocks, colours, paper, textile options)

    - Different ways of creating patterns

    - Ongoing guidance on the prints being created

    - Aftercare tips & tricks to help you take care of the finished piece.

    Important information:

    - The workshop includes 1 practice paper and 1 fabric (choice between tote bag, cushion cover, table mat, or table napkin) and paints + tools needed. Extra paper and fabric can be purchased during the workshop.

    - We will dry and cure the items for you, making them ready to use. They will need to be picked up from Artistic Square 2 weeks after the workshop. You will be reminded of this by email.

    - Wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting fabric paint on.
